The project
Canadian Roaster Society contacted us for an emergency industrial repair in Montreal on their coffee roasting machine. Over time, an opening had formed in the roaster’s chimney, allowing smoke to escape into the warehouse.
The challenge was significant. There were no technical plans available for the machine, making it impossible to precisely identify the source of the leak without a thorough inspection.
Furthermore, the equipment is used daily by several Montreal coffee companies. The roaster is therefore in high demand and could not be out of service for long.
The intervention also had to respect a strict food-processing environment, as the warehouse contains food products and includes a small coffee shop open to the public.

We performed welding on food-grade equipment directly on-site thanks to our mobile welding unit.
After a complete inspection, we designed a custom metal ring to seal and reinforce the damaged section of the chimney. The repair was carried out using arc welding, ensuring a robust and permanent fix adapted to the roaster’s thermal constraints.
The smoke leak was completely eliminated. The equipment was able to resume operations quickly, without contamination or prolonged interruption.
This industrial repair in Montreal allowed the client to extend the lifespan of their machine while complying with current food safety standards.
